The Saturday just gone, I was invited by some friends to a celebration of Autumn’s arrival, Autumn’s Reign, in Epping Forest.
We threw down some blankets, broke out a picnic, and struck up a song. Phil Granal, otherwise known as Chancery Blame, from The Gadjo Club put together a string quartet for the occasion. They played some Schubert together first, then we played one of my favourite songs, a Stephen Sondheim classic, “Losing My Mind”, from the musical “Follies”.
It was the first time the quartet had seen the music, and certainly the first time we’d played together, so the performance is predictably shaky, but certainly no less enjoyable. I was in my element. See for yourself below:
